In order for diesel generator sets to operate normally and efficiently, they must be properly cooled to keep their heated parts within the normal operating temperature range for efficient operation. As an important component of the water-cooled engine cooling circuit, the radiator of a diesel generator set can absorb the heat of the cylinder to prevent the unit from overheating and generating malfunction.

Due to the large specific heat capacity of water, the temperature rise after absorbing the heat of the cylinder is not substantial, so the heat of the engine employs the cooling water as a liquid circuit and the water is used as a heat carrier to conduct heat. Then it is through the large area of the heat sink in the convention form of heat dissipation blade to maintain the appropriate working temperature of the diesel generator engine

When the water temperature of the diesel generator engine is high, the water pump repeatedly pumping water in circulation, so as to reduce the temperature of the engine, ( the composition of the radiator is equipped with hollow copper pipe, and that the high temperature water in the radiator will be through the air cooling process and circulate the water to the engine cylinder wall ) to achieve the purpose of protecting the engine. During winter when the water temperature is too low we should stop the water circulation to avoid the diesel generator engine temperature getting too low.

The radiator of the diesel generator set plays an important role for the whole generator set body.  If the radiator is not used properly, it will cause damage to the diesel engine and the alternator and in serious cases, it will also cause the total lost of the diesel engine. Therefore, the user must learn to use the radiator of the diesel generator set correctly.

Finally, Tide Power will like to remind the majority of users, when inspecting the coolant level please pay attention to see whether there are foreign objects floating on the coolant surface, such as rusty powder, unknown oil stains, etc. If you find oil stains floating up, it means that there may be oil seeping into the coolant. If you find foreign objects floating up are with rusty powder, it means that the corrosion in the radiator is very serious. Once the above conditions are found it will mean that the diesel generator set is not in very good condition and need special attention.
