At the turn of spring and summer, with more rain, diesel generators inevitably encounter bad weather when in use. If not handled properly, they are easily affected by moisture, which can have different degrees of impact on the generator set and even cause internal corrosion and damage to the equipment. Therefore, the waterproof treatment of diesel generator sets is directly related to the working performance of the whole equipment and the stable operation of the project.

How to do a good job of diesel genset waterproof treatment? Based on the summary of many years of experience in running generator sets, Tide Power reminds you that when a diesel genset is found to be in water for unknown reasons, it can be treated as follows：

1. If the diesel engine is found in the water during operation, it should be turned off and kept off immediately.

2. Then lift one side of the generator set with a jack to make the oil pan of the engine oil pan at a lower position, unscrew the oil plug, and then pull out the oil dirt to make the water and sewage in the oil flow out. When the oil is about to be released, put the oil and water together slightly and tighten the oil drain plug.

3.Remove the air filter of the generator set, replace the filter element and immerse it with oil.

4. Remove the lower air inlet, exhaust pipe and muffler and clear the water from the pipes. Open the pressure reducing valve, crank the diesel engine to generate power and observe if there is water in the intake and exhaust ports. If there is water, continue to shake the crankshaft to dry all the water in the cylinder. Install the air inlet, exhaust and muffler, add a small amount of oil to the air inlet, rotate the crankshaft a few turns, then install the generator  air filter.

5. Remove the generator's oil tank. After draining all oil and water, check that there is no water in the fuel system and drain it.

6. Drain and clean the water tank and waterways and add water to the water buoy to raise it.

7. Disassemble the generator set, check for stator and rotor water in the generator, then wipe dry and assemble.

8. Start the generator set. After starting, observe the rise of the oil indicator and listen to the generator set for any abnormal rattling sounds. After checking that all parts are normal, run the generator set in the order of idle, medium speed and high speed and enforce the running speed. When break-in is complete, stop running and drain the oil.

9. Fill with new oil and start the generator for normal use.
